upcoming training

I’m happy to offer a selection of workshops online. Contact me at train@uxbridgepilates.com to register or for more information.

  • ONLINE WORKSHOP: Tuesday March 19, 7:00 - 9:00am $135 CDN (plus tax)

    • This workshop requires:

    • 7.5" blue Mini Stability Ball

    • 12" orange Mini Stability Ball

    • Flex-Band

    • Soft Dumbbells 2.2 lbs

This ZEN•GA® workshop incorporates the latest findings in fascial research. It is thought that the myofascial lines act as global tension complexes that simultaneously stabilize, transmit forces, preserve joint integrity and allow for coordinated movements throughout the skeletal frame. The Arm Line Exploration uses the four arm lines as a map to begin to understand these well documented myofascial continuities, to stimulate awareness of our three-dimensional structures and to “see” or sense the arm lines experientially in the body. These simple exercises can also be a helpful guide for approaching global movement patterns when faulty movement compensations exist. Tactile feedback and support tools (Mini Stability Ball™ and Flex-Band™) add imagery and gentle resistance to improve tone, proprioception and circulation. The Exploration is followed by a dynamic Flex-Band Arm Line Workout designed to further build on the concepts of myofascial continuities using Flex-Band resistance with coordinated global movement patterns to seamlessly integrate the arm lines into the entire body.

  • ONLINE WORKSHOP: Wednesday April 3, 8:00 - 10:00am, $135 CDN (plus tax)

    • This workshop requires a Mat and a pair of Sliding Mobility Disks (https://www.merrithew.com/shop/ProductDetail/ST06297_Sliding-Mobility-Disks-set-Of-2)

Mobilizing the joints, from the spine to the appendages, is necessary to maintain a supple resilient body. However, flexibility and range of motion alone are not enough. In order to have a fully functional physique, creating stability in all movements is equally as important. Created by the programming team at Merrithew®, this workout incorporates the simple Sliding Mobility Disks™ in Matwork-based sequences that move and challenge the musculature of the whole body. The three-dimensional patterns include floor work for the arms, legs and core, and progress to a standing series that targets upright balance and control. Find exercise options for all levels of clients with this all-in-one workout.

  • ONLINE WORKSHOP: Monday April 8, 8:00 - 10:00am, $135 CDN (plus tax)

    • This workshop requires a Reformer and Jumpboard

Learn programming to improve the strength and stability of hip, knee and ankle joints in both supine and standing positions in this workshop developed by the Merrithew® team. The use of a Jumpboard with the Reformer allows the hip joint to be closer to an anatomically neutral alignment when transferring forces from the soles of the feet up through the body, promoting good biomechanics of the entire lower kinetic chain. Increased spring resistance emphasizes strengthening of the arms, shoulder girdle and legs.

  • ONLINE WORKSHOP: Monday April 15, 7:00 - 11:00am, $260 CDN (plus tax)

    • This workshop requires a 36” Foam Roller

Bring more diversity and challenge to your group or personal training Matwork routine with this Foam Roller™ workshop, developed by the Merrithew® team. In the first half of this workshop, a variety of exercises are demonstrated, explained and practiced, all using the roller to target local stabilizers, cue alignment and challenge core and peripheral strength. In the second half, discover how to add further challenge by using the Roller’s unstable nature and reduced base of support. Increase strength and balance while ensuring safety and effectiveness.

  • ONLINE WORKSHOP: Tuesday April 23, 8:00 - 10:00am, $135 CDN (plus tax)

    • This workshop requires a Split Pedal Stability Chair

Breathe new life into your chair workouts by involving the spring resistance of the Split-Pedal Stability Chair with flowing choreography that encompasses the entire body. In this innovative workshop developed by the programming team at Merrithew®, learn how to fully mobilize the spine, hips and shoulders while integrating fascial awareness. Progressive sequences incorporate full flexion, extension and spiral movements that help unleash tensions and muscular restrictions. Enjoy the benefits of this invigorating workout that will revitalize body and soul.

Foundational & Professional Development Courses.

  • Functional Anatomy

The most important first step in becoming an excellent instructor is understanding how the body works. The Functional Anatomy course focuses not only on the skeleton and muscles of the body, but how the systems work together to create movement.

  • STOTT PILATES®

The STOTT PILATES repertoire spans Matwork, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Barrels exercises. Ideally learned in that order, the system provides instructors a solid foundation for the creation and implementation of effective exercise programs.

  • Special Populations

The Injuries and Special Populations course is just the beginning to the understanding of how injuries, surgeries or other conditions limit movement. Instructors learn the basics of how to create effective programs for a variety of situations.

  • Continuing Education

Continue your learning journey with workshops and professional development courses that cover a variety of topics from programming with props, working with special populations to gaining deeper insight into the functioning of the body. All workshops taught are eligible for STOTT PILATES Continuing Education Credits.

  • Fascial Movement

An understanding of the human fascial system is paramount to effective physical training and rehabilitation. Get insight into fascia on a cellular level and its integration into sensory reception, communication and overall physical functioning that can be applied to any type of training.

  • Halo® Training, ZEN•GA® & Total Barre®

Halo Training, ZEN•GA and Total Barre give you options to expand your training. The Halo Trainer is useful for post-rehabilitation to high-performance training. The Total Barre Program uses music to motivate and inspire. ZEN•GA incorporates imagery and elements of fascial integration.
